I received my BA in Sociology and Criminal Justice from California State University, Fullerton.
I furthered my education by receiving a Master of Social Work degree from California State University, Fullerton with a concentration in child welfare.
My name is Irene Nunez, I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), Perinatal Mental Health Certified (PMH-C), and EMDR certified therapist and approved consultant. My office is based out of North Orange County (Brea) and service clients in surrounding areas as well. I have several years of experience in providing mental health services to the community. I specialize in working with women transitioning into motherhood and other major life transitions. If you are struggling with pregnancy, postpartum depression , postpartum anxiety, birth trauma, ptsd, childhood trauma, and parenting I am here to help. I also conduct Mental Health Immigration Evaluations. (please see tab on Immigration evaluations for more details).
I grew up in Inglewood, CA in a Cuban and Mexican American household. During these youthful years, my passion towards social justice and helping others began. I myself struggled with anxiety during these years and decided to make it my life's mission to become an empathetic listener and advocate for individuals in the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. I also specialize in helping support for young parents, parenting as a teen, and how to balance school and parenting as a teen. I have both clinical/professional and lived experience as a daughter of two teen parents.
In order to do so, I have become a strong advocate for taking steps towards decolonizing and destigmatizing how we view and participate in therapy and in the mental health field. I believe my approaches are aligned with those of holistic therapy and healing practices. I have taken and continue to take several steps in integrating this into my practice.
Through these experiences I have been able to help individuals find their inner peace, balance, strengths, and walk the middle path towards healing. I provide trauma therapy for Women. I believe everyone's path towards healing is unique. Let's take that first step together.
-Con Mucho Amor Y Gratitud,
Irene Nunez, LCSW, PMH-C
I truly enjoy laughing, and connecting with my inner child by doing activities that make me smile.
I am enjoying my journey through madrehood. Yes, it has been one of the most difficult transitions I have experienced, yet the most beautiful part of my life. My daughter is my world!
You can find me outdoors on most days. Hikes, walks, gardening and outdoor yoga are some of my favorite things to do. Connecting with Pachamama and the beauty our world has to offer fills my cup.
Fun Fact: I have been to 18 countries and counting ! Travel has always been a big part of my life and have met so many amazing individuals all over the world ! As a kid, I traveled with my grandparents and mother. Now I get to travel with my husband and daughter.
